Feeding carnivorous Plecos - How?

HI folks,
I have a few cat fish in a tank with Corey's and Eartheaters. All South American.

The plecos are a green phantom and a queen arabesque.

How do you guys go about ensuring the plecos dietary requirements are met in a tank full of greedy bottom feeders?

I have the usual Algae tablets which I place as strategically as possible before lights out, same with slices of courgette. But I wonder about a protein for them.

The food is always gone next day, but who ate it?
Any feeding advice will be very greatly appreciated.

 

You could add some sinking shrimp pellets. Queen Arabesques shouldn't be eating algae wafers. I'd actually cut the algae tablets out completely. Give your green phantom fresh veggies and herbivore wafers and drop in carnivore sinking pellets for the Arabesque and the phantom every day. Frozen bloodworms, brine shrimp, and blackworms would be good too.

I can't imagine bloodworms lasting long enough for the plecos to ever even see them with my level of water flow. I'm hoping to find a good quality sinking protein filled tablet I can somehow get in there after dark.

Try the bloodworms at night and put multiple bunches in across the tank - hopefully they'll get some of them!

 

Thanks pal, ive stuck some protein tablets for carnoviroes inside a courgette and dropped it in front of their favourite caves last night and today its all gone. So far so good. Bloodworms tonight.
