Feeding Betta Frozen Blood Worms And Brine Shrimp Only?

I just bought my first betta. I wonder, since he is carnivorous, can I feed him frozen brine shrimp and bloodworms only? Forever? For a week, until my cashflow situation resolves and I can get betta pellets? I have frozen food already, I feed my other fish couple of times per week.

You really should get pellets as a staple meal for your fish, as it will provide him with most proper nutrition, unlike frozen foods. Frozen foods can also be feed a few times a week, since they are usually high in protein, and enhances your fish's diet. Feed him everyday, or 6 days a week.

Pellets don't have to be the staple as long as you provide a wide variety of frozen foods.

Here's what I feed my betta
Day 1- Frozen, defrosted bloodworms
Day 2- Freeze dried tubifex
Day 3- Frozen, live or freeze dried daphnia
Day 4- Flakes or micro pellets
Day 5- Frozen. defrosted brineshrimp
Day 6- Frozen, defrosted bloodworms
Day7- Half a boiled, deshelled pea
Day 8- Fast
Day 9- Random frozen food, usually whiteworms or blackworms.

Just feeding bloodworms and brineshrimp won't provide everything he needs and isn't healthy long term.

That is a nice menu

My bettas have always been fed mostly frozen foods and I haven't feed a betta pellets in years. A fast day once a week and a variety of foods and they do very very well in my experience. I'll sometimes fast a couple days and I check all my tanks daily for any odd behavior or appearances. Pellets are definitely not required but I'd recommend keeping a
bag of frozen peas in the freezer as if you allow them to over eat like many betta owners they can easily get backed up and the peas help get things moving again.

That may seem like a good idea in theory, but terrible in practice. Bettas are carnivorous, right? Well, yes - but 1. the betta you have is very different than a "real" betta you'd find in the wild on that carnivorous diet. 2. Even on bug-only diet (which isn't even true), a wild betta would getta variety of bugs, not literally 2 fatty bugs.

Pallets have vitamins. Feed pallets as a staple.

Lazyman's betta diet (my diet) is 1 week pallet 1 week bloodworms, with a fast day whenever I'm feeling lazier than usual.

Today's bettas you'd find in shops are certainly different to a wild betta in a lot of ways but why would their dietary requirements have changed? The bettas we have in tanks are still carnivores.

I feed 3-4 bloodworm every evening (amount depends on each betta really)

Their main diet consists of 2 brands of pellets and some bug bites

BottomDweller where do you find frozen blackworms or whiteworms? What company makes them?
