Feeding A Petco Baby Betta

How should I feed a baby betta from Petco? I'll probably get one today or tomorrow. I thought about floating a pellet and letting him nibble on it, but then realized he might not bother with something he can't fit in his mouth. Another option I see is the Omega betta flakes until he gets big enough for pellets. What's your suggestion?

Thanks!

you could crush the pellet or the flakes so they fit in his mouth. Depends on what you choose

Crubmled up flakes or crushed up pellets will work. If you're not afraid of live food, daphnia, infusoria, or baby brine shrimp would be good. Frozen (thawed) brine shrimp might be another good choice.

You can soak the pellet in some tank water and take a toothpick to break it up and place it in for him to eat. Live foods are always great but can be hard to maintain and attain. Frozen foods are also great such as blood worms, brine shrimp, or mysis shrimp. If it's too big, you can break it up.

Thanks for your replies. I'll try the Omega betta flakes.

I fed mine crushed flakes until she was old enough to fit a pellet in her mouth. I also gave her bloodworms about twice a week. It took her forever to get the hang of coming up to the surface to eat, which is another reason I liked flakes at first. I'd feed him a little bit twice a day.

Also, I bought a male and ended up getting a female, just a warning. You might want to do research on how to tell the difference first She's really beautiful for a female though! Here is a transformation picture. It's definitely fun to see them grow from a baby!

You should get some guppies bites! Or micro bites. They are made specifically made for small mouths

I use crushed flakes and HikarI first bites. The thing I don’t like about the first bites is how fine and powder like it is, is easy to overfeed and dirty tank. My little guy likes to eat it though!

Too make them grow more and faster I suggest some frozen foods. Daphnea, brine shrimp, mysis.
