Feedback on Convict Setup

Hello all. I recently set up a 40 gallon breeder with the intention of adding a pair of convict cichlids. I’ve done a lot of research on convicts in their natural environment and tried to somewhat mimic what I’ve seen. I’m curious if anyone has any suggestions on my setup? The one large rock on the left has been hallowed out to create a cave. Should I add a second cave?

Just want to say, that's a really good looking tank. Better than mine. My fish just redecorate as they see fit which is super frustrating at times. I can never maintain an aquascape like yours.

Thank you very much. To be fair, this tank was just set up, so I haven’t had the fish in yet to redecorate.

Looks good. I would include a lot more branches, rocks and plants. The tank looks bare to me. The Convict would appreciate some cover. There is little cover in the tank and none in the mid or upper levels. They do live in multiple environments in nature, but I don't think they don't hang out in open water.

That looks beautiful! I don’t know much about cichlids, but I do want to know what wood you used :D

In breeding mode, Convicts will dig a nest, which will definitely alter the aquascape.

It is Manzanita wood.
