I really love my bristlenoses, but I also have favorite plecos that I don’t have.
When my 90 gets set up, there may be a possibility for a bigger pleco, but not a common.

I like the look of zebras but I haven't yet had them in my care so I'll stick with my bristlenose (either my long fin blue eyes or my rio paraguay pair).

My favorite is my Clown pleco (Panaqolus maccus). They’re a diamond in the rough.
I also like Bristlenose plecos. Mine has started to develope a nice dark and light chocolaty, pattern, as it got older.

Hi all! Just wondering what people favorite plecos are? You don’t have to own them just what is your favorite.

I will start and say that I actually have both of my favorite plecos. Yes, both, I have two, the Green Phantom Pleco and Large Common Plecos. I know that the common pleco may be surprising but when I started fishkeeping I always thought it would be fun to have a 18-24” common pleco and I now how two common plecos. One in my 130 who is around 10” (and growing), and a rescue in my 55 who is stunted around 9-10” (I rescued him from someone who had him in a 20 gallon for 15 years. The Green Phantom has also been a dream fish of mine for several years and I got mine around a year ago and just moved him to the 130 yesterday. Of course I also like blue phantoms and want to get one at some point as well. Now with all that being said my dream pleco is a zebra pleco (mostly because of how rare they are, and their unique color), but personally color wise I like green/blue phantom plecos more.

I’m exited to see what you all say!

P.S. there is a list a thousand miles long of all the plecos I wish I had those are just some of my favorites. Close seconds are plecos like vampire plecos, watermelon plecos, sunshine plecos, the list goes on.

EDIT: If you have them photos are always welcomed!

I have 8 now and I will say my favorite is the Golden Nugget, I will see him some times come out at night to eat, but as soon as I take my phone out to grab a picture he darts under a plant and or a piece of driftwood.
Would love to get a Zebra, and I hopefully will after this whole virus thing is done with.
Plecos I have are:
Golden Nugget
Snowball
Green Phantom
Blue Phantom
Royal
Clown
Rednose
Common Bristlenose

I don’t have all that large tanks so I’ve only kept a bristlenose and a clown pleco. I think my bristlenose wins this one.

Aren’t flash plecos supposed to be really expensive? I have heard that but I got mine for like 6$

I picked one up for $9 or $10 about 7 months ago but i normally see them listed for $40 or $50. I wanted my lfs to order one after i saw them at petco - they asked me how much the one was at petco - i said $9 - they said buy it. The critter is really amusing and very nice looking. I grew him out a little bit in the guppy tank (29) and then moved him to the 120 - bit skittish but not totally. Not sure how he will age but when i get a larger tank i intend to pick up more. I've seen pictures of a large number of pleco and at least in pictures some of them look fantastic. I have a list of 3 or 4 i want to buy. zebra is on that list but they are way too expensive but if they ever drop in price i'd definitely get a few. My clown is an amusing character and works well in my 20 long but i can't say i esp love em. He likes to dig into the sand and stick his head out. He'll come out if i drop a pellet near him and once in a blue moon he will suck on the glass or wood during the day (i'm sure he spends more time out at night). Occasionally the nannacara will hide in his hole for a few fractions of a second - he doesn't care much for visitors....
-
here are some of the pleco on my maybe buy list:
L075 - para pleco
L134 - leopard frog pleco
L075 -
green phantom pleco (very low on the list)
blue phantom pleco (very high on the list)
starlight pleco
false zebra pleco
-
I have a pair of bn pleco - and don't really care for them - the female was the first fish i purchased when i got back into aquariums about 1.6 years ago - she was small back then. These are plain bn pleco - i suppose i might consider a super red at some point or a blue eye but i just don't really like their behavior. My flash came out to nibble on the zuc with the female bn. Shy little thing Oh well.

hypostomus luteus! the brightest colored pleco!
--
Sometime they end up solid gold and sometime black. They can grow to 30 inches so you would need a *big* tank. They just won't do well in that 10 gallon....

Would love to see a picture of the hypostomus luteus pleco,

I've only ever kept bristlenoses so I have to say they are my favourite by default lol. But really, I could write a list as long as my arm. All plecos are my favourite
I love zebra plecos, of course.
L-239 baryancistrus beggini , parancistrus aurantiacus L056y and especially pseudorinelepis genibarbis L095! Oh if only I had the space
