Faulty Gh/kh Test Kit?

This is already led lights. Hopefully it will be better than the florescent bulbs that came with the new hood I bought recently. Hubby replaced all 8 of his original 4 ft florescent shop lights with these 4 ft LED lights and I had him order one extra for me.

I am hoping this light will be enough to help low light plants grow for me. If I find that they don't I may have to just bite the bullet and buy a different one. I will give this one a chance first though.
I wasn’t sure if you meant screw in led bulbs or if their built into the shop lights . That’s the only reason I was saying if they were screw then u could get the 6500K daylight bulbs like these... don’t laugh at my horrible attempt of a black and purple gravel path Hahahaha

I see what kind of lights you were talking about. I didn't think about the fact that there are lots of different kinda of shop lights. I didn't count them and it doesn't say on the box it came in but there are bunched of little LED lights in it. Unlike some of the fixtures made for aquariums all of the lights on this one are white.

I laughed at it I still use these screw in LED bulbs for some smaller tanks. Mattgirl, I think they will be ok for you. How deep is the tank?

It is 17 inches from top of sand to the water line. This light seems to get to every corner of the tank. I knew my neon tetras were pretty little fish but they almost glow with this light.

If it went straight to green and skipped orange it’s just telling you its 1 degree or below
I think I jumped to the wrong conclusion and you are right. It isn't the test that is giving me problems. It is my very soft water with very little mineral content.

After adding some Equilibrium to one of my tanks my KH test turned blue after the first drop and turned to yellow after the 5th drop.

The GH is still too low to go from orange to green though. I am going to be playing around with the amount of Equilibrium needed to get the numbers where they need to be.

I want to send out a big

For all the great help I got from all of y'all. Hopefully all of my plants will thrive now and will owe their success to the help they got from the fine folks on this thread.
