Faucet Water Siphon

I've used an aqueon water changer...the kind that hooks up to faucets....for many years. In this current home, the water pressure doesn't seem to pull water from the tank. I've checked the connections and they seem fine but the changer is over 10 years old and has moved with me many times.

Should I invest in another faucet changer? Would a new one work despite lower pressure from tap?

My largest tank is 75 and the bucket method is killing me...lol.

Mine is newish and doesn't work on my faucet but works fine on the hose outside. I doubt a new one would work any better. JMO.

Well if your water pressure is no good, getting a new changer won't do anything.

I can make a suggestion? When I had to do a water change once ( I was having a problem with the faucet where my hose is connected ) I used my shop vac. I had to do it a few times, empty the canister and re do but hey, it worked and worked very well......

I siphon it out of the tank into the bucket, then pull the bucket to the nearest sink. I do have to dip water out with a smaller bucket until this one is light enough for me to lift.

The advantage for me is that I never have to lift more than 2 gal, and don't have to make as many trips back and forth.

But my house is all tile flooring...pulling it on carpet would be tough.

BTW, my post was meant to be teasing and joking (but true). I hope no one took offense.

You know it's actually not a bad idea. I should get some of those plant rollers to put my 5 gal buckets on to move around the room. I can lift them up to the sink but really don't need to be carrying them around the house!

Mine was $20 on Amazon and it holds 5 gal. As long as your bucket doesn't fall off the roller when the water sloshes, it would work! I am very happy with mine.

Well I'd hold it ... not pull it with a rope.

For the tanks my python water changer can't syphon water out of (sink is upstairs, tanks down), I use a 1" hose as a syphon and it fills a 5 gal bucket in about 20 seconds. Once I'm done syphoning water, I fill it with the python. The whole process takes 5 minutes.

Lots of good ideas. My biggest issue is the syphon part. Every manual or faucet siphon seems to stop working after a short period of use and I'm stuck sucking on the hose...yuck!

I have long hoses and hang them off the porch and allow the water to drain in the yard.

Just take the end of the water changer and put the end in a bath tub or sink lower than the tank and let it drain. Saves water and money doing it that way, I haven't really found the need to use water pressure to change water. I seem to get a good suction just by having a regular siphon going.
