Fat yoyo loach

Something I've noticed with my yoyo loaches... They're getting fat. But it's more of a distended belly more than a "fat fish".. if there is such a thing. I have 3 yoyo loaches, and they're about 2-3 years old. When I first got them, they were SUPER active. Almost annoying the other fish; soooo much energy! They're still active, and they still have no fear about snatching food from the other fish given the opportunity, but they've for sure slowed down a bit.

Tank mates are 4 electric blue acaras that are 3-4 years old, 2 angels and a couple bottom dwellers like a half dozen kulI loaches and 2 rio xingu plecos of generally the same age. They've lived together with all of these fish their whole lives in a non planted 75 gallon and they more or less get along with everyone. I've heard that they can get full of eggs causing the belly distention, and it's possible the 3 yoyos are all female. The main diet for the entire aquarium is frozen bloodworms. I buy the frozen cubes, and I drop a few cubes into a bottle of warm water so that the cubes melt and I can spread the bloodworms throughout the aquarium so the more skiddish fish and bottom dwellers have an opportunity to eat without competing for their lunch. I will also occasionally drop in some flakes, as well as some sinking pellets depending on my mood if I feel like going through the process of melting frozen bloodworm cubes or not if I'm in a hurry. But generally speaking, they get bloodworms 5 days a week, with the flakes and pellets 2-3 times a week.

Anyway, they're looking like fat little walruses lately. Is this normal? Do I need to change the feeding regimen? Or is there something else going on that requires some other intervention?

Yea, I've heard that. They've been this way for a few months now so I'm wondering if there's anything I can do to help expel the eggs (assuming that's what it is) as far as water parameters or hiding places so they feel comfortable dropping any eggs they're carrying. I've actually bred my angels from laying eggs to having a tank full of baby fish to getting them big enough to sell to my LFS in the amount of time I noticed my loaches carrying a little extra weight on them.

Most loaches don't breed easily or at all in captivity. Unsure about yoyos though.

If all 3 are like this, it may do good to have a male around too.

You're right about that. It's pretty much unheard of to breed yoyo's in captivity.
