Fast growing column feeders

Hello everyone

I currently am struggling with beard algae in my 50 gallon tank. (200 liters) This algae has been established very well for 3+ years now. This is most caused by too many phophates and nitrites in my tank. So this is why I'm looking for fast growing (partially) column feeding plants, currently i have a couple of anubias and java fern in my tank which are too slow growing and are losing the battle to the algae. I will soon also be injecting EasyCarbo directly on the algae to help destroy it and help the plants.

TLDR; i need suggestions for easy fast growing column feeding plants.

Thanks in advance!

Floating plants might be a good shout (thinking anacharis, hornwort etc), along with emersed plants like pothos.

I can vouch for hornwort, I have a 110 gal stock tank with common
goldfish with a grass carp & 2- redbellie danc in Indiana from a creek.
no algae not off balance with the water. its running with 2 pumps in
it a 660 gph just as a water mover to keep things circulated for the
other bigger pump sucks what it catches takes it to a tote filter
container & every 2-3 weeks I clean the filters & do a W/C at the
same time, I have has this setup for 2 yrs & going strong but
smooth & cool no worries no fuss spinning like a top.

Just my 2 cents worth, but, in the past, I tried and tried to control BBA (and other algae) with nutrient limitation and had little success. This is not to say nutrients are not a factor, but there are easier ways to deal with BBA. And, I think you're on the right track. Get a bunch of fast-growing plants, give the plants everything they need to be happy (including fertilizers), and keep your tank clean. (Siamese algae eaters can also be helpful.)

I'm a fan of Hygrophila difformis personally...beautiful, easy, fast-growing plant. And if your water is particularly hard, try some vallisneria.

Water lettuce. It uses up nutrients faster than most, if not all algae. Thin it out once a week. All other plants listed above work well also, but water lettuce grows incredibly fast in the right conditions.
