Maybe it's just because they've gotten a bit older... I got some Calico Fantail Goldies about two months ago. Moved them to my 55 gallon a few weeks ago. They were super active as they were in the 20. Now I occasionally catch them just chilling at the bottom of the tank? Just wanna know if this is normal?

What are your water parameters? If they're continually inactive I'd check the water and probably do a big water change.

I just cleaned the tank a week ago and this behavior started yesterday. It isn't continous. They'll rest for a few minutes then swim. But if I walk up to the tank they eagerly greet me and swim around happily.

My goldies do that when they're sleeping... I wonder if yours are too...

They are just fine. Goldie’s like to take naps and often do at the bottom of the tank. Mine do it all the time. I think they just have to feel comfortable in the tank before they do it. That’s why you don’t see it at first. It means they like their home and feel safe!

I would suggest a bristlenose pleco to clean the algae though. They keep mine very clean.

Believe it or not there are actually two plecos in the tank that are about six inches long each. I'm glad to hear it means they're comfortable. I just never saw them rest and this is my first time having goldies.
