Not asking about difficulty or requirements, just wanna know who you guys think is prettier.

Male Fancy Guppies or Glofish Tetras?

Fancy guppies, Glofish look so fake to me...

I personally think that the guppies are prettier just because they don't look as artificial (even though fancy guppies look very different compared to their wild brethren ). Don't get me wrong, I think glo fish are beautiful to, I'd love to have a tank of them someday. I just think that the guppies look a little more natural, and they have such sweet little faces

I'm trying to decide which I want for my new 20 gallon tank. I could always put them together since they're compatible, but I think that would look horrible.

Yeah, I agree on that. If I were getting glo fish, I'd want to get the whole setup with the led bubbler and colorful plastic plants and stuff, I just think they'd look the most beautiful in that setting. I think guppies look the most beautiful amongst live plants and driftwood and all that natural jazz. In the end, it's all up to you my friend!

Neither are near the top of my list, but between the two, I'd choose guppies every time. Glofish are just so garish and obnoxious looking. Maybe that's just me, though.

I can't agree more... At least they are better than scoliosis fish and tattooed/died and mutilated fish.

I love my school of glow fish. They are actually spawning with my black skirts.

Real GloFish, not the artificially colored tetras injected with dye, are interesting critters. They've been genetically modified with fluorescent protein genes from corals and jellyfish. I prefer the the various flourescent-colored danios. They shoal together regardless what screaming fluorescent colors are in the mix.

I'm not a fan of plastic plants and artificial decorations. I find all that stuff, including colored gravel, rather tacky/tasteless. But that's just me.

I've seen some beautiful natural aquascapes with GloFish happily dashing about. I would like a large 75 gallon planted aquarium with a bunch of them. Unfortunately, they are a bit too expensive for my budget. But one of the virtues of having danios instead of the other genetically modified fish is the danios can't help but breed occasionally when cared for properly. You don't get as many offspring as hundreds of guppy fry, but you get more GloFish.

Good luck.

Guppies every time! I love my guppies to bits and they have amazing personalities. I personally don't like the artificial look of glofish.

I like guppies too. There easy to breed and make healthy snacks for larger fish.

Normal Glofish aren't injected, painted or dyed, like you said, it's been added to their DNA to become fascinating neon colors. The only injected ones I've ever seen (and I've only seen one tank, on YouTube) were injected directly into the embryo before too many of the stages (not that I think it's okay, just wanted to make sure you knew

I do believe you're thinking of feeder guppies rather than fancy guppies, not that I think it's okay to feed any fish to any other fish but just saying

feeder guppies rather than fancy guppies

I tried to tell that to my ctenopomas once. They respectfully disagreed.

I like the glo danios better than the tetras, not sure why, maybe because they never stop moving. Would like guppies better if they didn't breed every 2 days.

Lol I had a 10 gallon guppy breeder tank (fancy guppies) right next to my 60 gallon Oscar tank.

Fancy Guppy are much more natural and real looking, not just their colors but even their movement is more calming and pleasing to look at than the nervous twitchy look of those other fish.

Haha good choice and happy guppying.

NB. Guppy male to female ratio is 1 male to 3 females but if you don't want baby fish you can go all male tank .
If you do want baby fish "fry" it would be a good idea to have a nice crowded bunch of live or artificial plants for them to hide in.

lol this is overkill but a virtual paradise for breeding guppy, you won't need this much though only about 1/4 to 1/3 of your tank space.
