Fan Shrimp Help

My new fan shrimp died! Ive never had one die... what could I be doing wrong? My amano and ghost shrimp are fine.. these ones however, died super fast... water levels are good. Ive got lots of places to hide.. plenty of plants... just don't get it. Temp is good too.. just hovering around 80 F. Help!! I'm so sad they were also very expensive..

Oh I got them a week ago.

Did they starve to death? Fan shrimp are filter feeders. Amano and ghost shrimp are not.

That would be my 1st question

Your tank is very clean, which is bad for.filter feeders without special detail to feeding them

 

I agree feeding can be a problem with these but I'm not so sure they would starve to actual death within a week?

It could otherwise be an acclimatization problem. Something was not to their liking. Oxygen?

I've never seen a post from a dedicated fishkeeper of these. I only kept one because my son liked it. That lasted a year. It seemed able to collect enough to eat from rubbing its fans on algae wafers that other inhabitants did not outcompete it over.

probably more than a week because people who ship fish already starve them before hand so they don't pollute the water as much when shipping. And on top of that, I bet most fish shops don't feed their filter feeders well (except in the salt water sections).

 

Could be! Could there be a bit of acclimatization in there as well? Maybe 50/50?
