That plan sounds excellent.
As you noticed, they are in a tank with the surface totally covered in water lettus.
What you describe should be perfect for them.

sounds cool..what is water lettus and how much lighting does it require?

curious as a betta lover and an "I can't keep plants alive" kinda fish keeper

Ok, here are a couple of pictures I took.

My camera was freaking out with the lighting conditions (and I did not want to use the flash in case of scaring babies).

People in the fish house.

A plant growing out the top of one of the tank, I thought it was pretty so I took a picture - I don't know what the plant is though.

I have more pictures but they are not quite as clear, if you want them PM me your email address.

Welcome I would have loved to meet you as well as have discussed Loaches with you. I really love them
Thank you so for the offer of a ride.
Now that the event is over I can tell our little secret We connived and got time off from work and were going to just show up to surprise Dino and CWC but...as it happened at the last minute hubby got very ill and we could not make the trip. I talked to Dino Sat night and got a run down on the day. I'm so glad so many showed up and had a good time.

Yes, he noticed as we were leaving the hotel, he checked all the fish in the buckets. I tried to play innocent but he knows me too well.

They are currently in a 10g. After doing some research on them i'm thinking of making a black water heavily planted set up for them?

And after seeing Ross's planted tank thinking about a layer of peat with sand on top, with loads of driftwood and maybe some oak leaves as we have loads of them in the garden? With lots of plants for them to hide in.

Any suggestions?

Anna

I could see me w/ my husband on the betta issue, Betta? what betta? Well they must have put a betta in there by accident, oh well we have an empty tank we have to keep it..... lol

Trouble is I didn't have an empty tank to keep it in!! I moved my pair into the spawning tank last night and hoped for the best and put the new guys where they were.

Luckily they liked each other and I now have eggs!!

Shame I couldn't make it down, I had a blast last time I was there. I'll be in your neck of the woods again the first week of June 09, I'll make a point of stopping by. Maybe I'll get to meet CWC this time...
