Fake vs real plants
Hello, I usually use live plants in my aquarium. What is the difference from using real plants vs fake? What are the best fake plants to use in an aquarium?

I prefer live plants as they don't grow as much algea, and look a bit more natural. However fake plants can be nice in aquariums with poor lighting or fish that like to dig up live plants. For fake plants I prefer silk plants as they have the most realistic texture and appearance.

you have two of the same threads!

Fake plants oare a replacement for live ones. Live plants are preferable, because they aid in the nitrogen cycle and are softer than plastic plants so they won't hurt your fish

the best fake plants to get are silk, which are softer than plastic, but tend to be pricy

I used to turn up my nose at fake plants. I thought they really take away from the desired illusion of a natural habitat. But then I saw this video:

I think that tank looks gorgeous despite having fake plants. I still prefer live plants, but my bias against fake plants are beginning to subside.

Welcome to the forum, Alcat, glad your here. I prefer some live plants but I have seem some gorgeous tanks pictured with artificial plants. It is up to you which you prefer or you can do a combo of both, some real and some artificial plants. Alison
