Fake Amanos?

Gorgs

Hi all,

I've had 5 "Amano" shrimp for about 6 months now, and yesterday I discovered I now have 6

I had 2 females that were carrying eggs but I assumed as they were Amanos that the babies would not survive in my freshwater tank, but I can't think of how else I have gained an extra shrimp

Am I correct in thinking I must have at least a couple of fake Amanos??

Can you post a picture? We've had people mistaking Ghost Shrimp for Amanos.
The likelihood of an Amano larva surviving longer than a week in freshwater is bordering to impossible.

Here's some pics of some of the original 5 shrimp, including one of the females carrying eggs!

Yes I thought that was the case, which is why I assume some of these must not be true Amanos

Nope, those are Amanos. Is the one additional shrimp already full size? If so, you might just have gotten an extra when you purchased them. Happens all the time.
