Fair Asking Price for Oscar

cjde

I have a 3 year old tiger Oscar that is outgrowing his 75 gallon tank. In excellent condition, lone tank occupant. Wondering about a fair asking price if I sell.

Thanks.

Oscars readily breed in captivity and are one of the most commonly sold Cichlids. As a result juvenile Oscars are relatively inexpensive, about five bucks apiece in my area.
They also grow very fast.
You might be able to get $25 for an adult Oscar.

Thanks. Put way more into it to raise him!

Unfortunately that's usually how it goes unless the fish is rare or regulated.

well in Australia at my LFS yesterday i saw standard black and red tiger oscar around 3-4inches selling for $50 AUD, while the long finned versions 3-4inches sold for around $80AUD.

$40_50 in my area

It’s probably harder to sell an adult though.

Not that many Fishkeepers out there with a spare 100+ gal. tank ready for a newly purchased adult Oscar.

I agree with the above, bigger oscars will be harder too sell now its not gonna be so much fish tank keepers but pond keepers who will want the oscar IMO, i would still put some online ads up just take whatever price you can get, try beat the price you bought it for but if you cant then its better you sell it to a better home then be greedy over a small amount of money and the amazing fish ends up dying from too small a tank.

Best of luck :)
