F8 Puffer and Snowflake Eel

I know usually puffers are considered solo fish, but would a f8 puffer be okay with 1-2 "Freshwater" Snowflake Eels?

I'm asking because one day I want to have a brackish tank, so I can have a puffer or the eels, so I was wondering if they could co-exsist.

I can't say from experiance, but my understanding is that the Snowflake Eel will eventually grow to about 2 ft long....and is semi-aggressive, which to me sounds like diasaster for the F8P, but a lunch for the eel.

 

I had thought about that, but wouldn't a F8P get big enough that it wouldn't fit into the Eels mouth? I keep reading that eels generally ignore anything they can't fit into their mouth easily?

 

I have seen fish smaller than 2 ft long with fish much larger than the 3" that the F8P would be in their mouth. Also, the Sg for the Snowflake eel is much greater (saltwater) vs that for the 1.008 (brackish water) required for the F8P. I just don't see that being a feasable combo....but then again, just MHO and I am not that experianced.

 

Also, 1.008 should be about the highst SG longterm for an F8.

 

And the freshwater snowflake eel (haha, freshwater, those jokers) says they usually live in about 1.010... I was hoping that since he would be hiding during the day and then be active at night when the puffer would in theory be sleeping and hiding, they would be fine together...

 

I don't have any personal experience with "freshwater" eels but having kept a snowflake moray in a reef tank before I can vouch for the fact that you MUST be prepared to lose fish of any size on occasion, especially if you accidentally miss a feeding day...We kept a small school of chromis in the tank just for that purpose so he wouldn't go after the more expensive tangs and whatnot.
