could you run just a 110L fish tank on just a external filter?

Absolutely, what type of filter are you thinking of though.

Of course Do you prefer canister or power filters? I have an Aqua Clear 70 power filter over my 30 gallon tank (approx. 110 L), and it works GREAT. I'd really recommend this filter to you. It pumps 300 gallons per hour - just perfect for a 30 gallon tank. You want a filter that pumps at least 10 times the volume of your tank per 1 hour.
bio-wheels are also good filters, and for small tanks the elite filters are good too, made by the same company as the aquaclears

hI iv been looking at the Ultra-jet External Filter 600 l/h?? and maybe a Submersible Biological Filter Water Pump witch is 1100 L/H but I'm not sure what biological means and I don't wanna keep asking question because I don't want people that are helpful to get fed up and stop helping me
