Experience With Apple Snails

So yesterday I got an Apple/Mystery Snail. I know the climb out of the tank when they're laying eggs, the problem is is that my tank doesn't have a lid. It's an open tank with a Nicrew light attached. Will the snail climb out because it wants to? I've been reading some articles and they say that rubbing vinegar or vaseline on the top of the tank will prevent them from climbing out.. What do you guys think?

they might hang out near the edge of the water line but won't full out leave unless something is wrong with the water parameters

Okay thank you! I know they can come out in the wild to look for food but I wasn’t sure if they’d be tempted otherwise. My other worry is that it’s a female and she’ll have nowhere to lay eggs that she may be carrying and resort of climbing out of the tank to look for a place.

Would that apply even if there’s no lip to the tank? Like you can see in the background here? Following as I have the same concern about my upcoming mystery snails.

They aren't really apple snails, but they're in the same family. The females are usually the ones that go for walks, because they're looking for places to lay eggs. If you're concerned you can always saran wrap the top.
