My husband and I are still married because he has never once come with me .I hate ikea. Its one of the worst forms of torture a wife can inflict on her husband.
I love house plants and have heaps in my main bedroom balcony as it gets sun all day. I even got my mother inlaws tongue to flower this year so I was stoked with that. The only one that's giving me any trouble is my jasmine it only grows on one side of the trunk even after pruning right down to the base last autumn.
Ive also got a couple of ferns in my babys room and mint and rosemary outside and I just planted some thyme and basil seeds last friday so fingers crossed they sprout.
smee82 For as long as I’ve had snake plants, I’ve never seen one flower. I didn’t even know they could flower until very recently! Is this the first time yours had flowered for you??
Just picked up this beautiful Polly Alocasia yesterday on clearance at Lowe’s. Was $25 but I got it for $10! Pink pot included. It just wasn’t as big as the others so they couldn’t sell it for the same price. Totally obsessed with it, should have grabbed two.

Outdoor plants ARE cheap compared to indoor plants. It’s kind of crazy. I saw this beautiful plant called Angel Wings today and I so wanted it to work indoors but one of the employees told me it wouldn’t do well. It feels like leather, I still had to get it regardless. Too neat to pass up.
Which one is the chocolate mint? That’s really neat!
I just picked up this awesome Bergonia Rex Fedor today, it was the last one and I walked all the way back through the nursery to grab it. Changed my mind about a dozen times on it but really glad I decided on it. The stems are absolutely mind blowing to me. Cashier even fawned over it.
And it’s not a house plant but it’s very well worth mentioning; I picked up a ghost pepper plant as well my Carolina reapers have been doing so well I decided to add more variety to the family.

Well that's rather rude of the restaurant! And I feel a little jealous of your plant collection (okay, more than a little jealous). Glad things worked out and you got an even better job!5 year old kalanchoe my boyfriends mom was going to throw out.

Yayyyy a monstera!!! My bf got it for me at a nursery for our 4 years together. I bought some cat nip and cat grass
I’m having a really good day!! Last night I found out the restaurant fired me and wasn’t planning on telling me that ever (I only worked there for 6 hours, they didn’t want to train me I guess) so I was pretty mad. But then I got an interview and hired on the spot at a job I wanted way more!! Yay for scuba shops, boo for monkey joes grill- you guys suck
You should put that up on Tinder. I bet you'd be very popular with the ladies
Alas, I am in the USA . Thank you though!loneminx I would gladly do a plant swap with u!! (if I could) this is a super freaking cool plant. I thought it was a fittonia at first
I can't remember if you said you were in Canada or not but I could probably mail you some stuff if you were
and yea. I'm happy with how it worked out. I don't want to work for people who would do this kind of thing
Ugh, Addie42 I've been absolutely dying for a monstera of any kinda. Now I know what to ask for for my 6 year anniversary though The one you’ve gotten is beautiful! What kind of monstera is it exactly?
And loneminx, that’s awesome! I really like that plant, it will be going on my wish list for sure. It would look really nice in a jade colored pot, or even a really pale green Try looking on Amazon, you can find some really nice sets. Sentimental plants are so great and so not great at the same time. You try so hard to take care of them so they absolutely thrive and goodness forbid they start wilting or yellowing; it’s like taking the soul of out your body.
The lemnseed May sprout and grow, but it’s very likely that the lemons will be sour- there still great for lemonade and cooking !
Ooooh, this looks like my kind of thread! Botany is actually how I got back into the aquarium hobby (through aquaponics). We have five plants growing in topped-up vases at the moment, especially Papyrus (or at least, the variety we have) seems to do very well on our acid tap water. I kind of hope to make a paludarium one day, but that is still far off for now.
Wonderful to see everyone's pictures, all these plants so well taken care of ^^ Kalanchoe usually last one or two seasons before people throw them out, they are so dirt cheap. Shame, just like Jade plants they can grow into interesting shrubberies if left to do their thing.
It's late at night now but I'll try to remember to snap some pictures tomorrow. And I'll try not to put all 80 or so of them in here =# Also do potted outdoor plants count if I treat them as my babies? There are some young Japanese Maples, Camellias and a Passiflora standing under the cover of the porch. I do not trust them to handle frost yet and there have been some weird late spring frosts these past few weeks.
Yup! For some reason mine don't grow very fast (I've had them for several years, but no sign of a tiny tree-shape yet. Perhaps I live too far north and my sun isn't bright enough to encourage strong growth?)Jade is definitely one of my favourite plants. Really cool to see how they grow as they age
Not a house plant but I think these magnolia trees are gorgeous
I hope I can keep it alive long enough to propogate some more so I can have extras to fall back on lol. It's more symbolic sentiment. Then there's my Hoya that is a cutting from my Grandma's. THAT one I am determined to keep alive. It looks really unhappy right now and I am kind of freaking out!! Probably just needs nitrogen so that's my plan is to get some fertilizer.Ugh, Addie42 I've been absolutely dying for a monstera of any kinda. Oh wait that tree is yours? I totally did not catch on. What a beautiful mature tree I am officially jealous. I visited Tokyo once, they had some of their streets lined with magnolias as far as the eye could see. And I was there during blooming season <3 It was truly a sight to behold! They were a lot younger than yours though. GL with propagating! Sometimes it can just be frustrating right? I tried to root cutting from that same magnolia before but they all melted, and then it did it on its own. Plants have attitudes lol.I hope I can keep it alive long enough to propogate some more so I can have extras to fall back on lol. It's more symbolic sentiment. And yeah Amazon does have some nice little sets!
Addie42 posted about the magnolia but it is beautiful!!Oh wait that tree is yours? I totally did not catch on. What a beautiful mature tree I am officially jealous. Oooh an inherited hoya (well sort of)! Awesome I love how long-lived they are. I've got a carnosa that I've had for about a year. I love it a lot - obviously it helps that they are super easy, haha - but it isn't exactly vigorous. Again, I think the long, dark winters up north are not really helping this australian grow. It'll get there though. With time.
I don't know about fertilisers. Have you considered using changed out tank water to water your plants? It contains a lot of that precious nitrogen but neatly dissolved and diluted so there is no risk of overdose. I've found it to be very beneficial (Also maybe it just needs more sun? I put mine in as full and bright a sun spot as I can give it)
loneminx You have a lovely aluminum plant- if it grows to gangly and tall you can clip off the taller piece and put into a container of water and root it. Give it light and keep the rooted end wet and it will grow roots and make a new plant. I propagate house plants as a hobby. Later I will see if I can post a pic of what I have- more then some greenhouses. LOL love plants.
What the heck that looks like a peace lily flower so strange
Yes it's right beside my peace lilly plant but, its definitely way Thicker of a flower then the peace lilly . it's just new so well see how big it gets. There's another just below it tooWhat the heck that looks like a peace lily flower so strange
Lovely! I’m looking forward to seeing the trade boards!
Leo is as handsome as ever too!
Ahhhhh! I want that peperomia too!! All of the peperomias! Why does Canada have such better plants?!

Orchids are beautiful but they seem daunting to me. I technically have one at my mom's house that she all but killed. I don't know what to do with it. Our house gets too cold.in the winter for them to be happy here I think?I think I might just be an obsessive searcher lol. I do live in a pretty large city and have loads of free time. (Less now that I found a summer job)
Took me a while to find it for cheap enough. I can’t justify spending more than 20-30 dollars on a single plant
I’ve wanted this one for a while. This is completely off topic but I think I’m developing a strong interest in orchids too
Have you gotten your pilea pep in the mail yet???
You look so pretty and happy!!
You look so pretty and happy!!
I need to go to our conservatory again. I used to go to one for my birthday every year because I hate gray cold days and just wanted to go somewhere green and warm.
