Excel Flourish & CO2 for shrimp tank?

HI all, my first post so apologies as this will have been answered before or is in the wrong forum almost guaranteed (lol).
I have a shrimp only tank with RCS which are now breeding away after a lot of strife getting everything stable. I'm now putting in minimal chemicals after previously messing about with water softener pillows, PH down etc etc due to local water being high alkalinity and incredibly hard.
Anyway, I own a bottle of Seachem Excel Flourish and some other fertilizers and also a lot of liquid CO2 - the last thing I want to do is mess with the equalibrium in the tank but the plants could do with some support I think- does anyone have any positive or negative experience dosing RCS tanks with Excel Flourish / fertilizers / liquid CO2?
Many thanks!

I don't have RCS currently, but I do use both Flourish (not Excel) and the Seachem root tabs in my tanks with ghost shrimp, mystery snails, and nerite snails and have not had any issues. Just don't put more in than what it says.

I'll let someone else add in more on the other products.

HI and welcome to Fishlore!

I have shrimp (hiding somewhere) and snails. I use Flourish Comp, Flourish Excel (which is liquid CO2) and root tabs with no issues. Just don't overdose as Bithimala already mentioned.

Thanks also El337! Wow, I'm pretty dumb sometimes; only just realised that flourish excel is just co2 as you say, so I now have litres and litres of the stuff lol. I read somewhere that you should only dose in the morning as plants don't absorb co2 at night time, is that correct?

Hey, don't feel that way. We're all here to learn.

It's recommneded to add Excel just before the lights come on so I think if you add it in the morning, it should be fine.

Reason for the morning being that the bulk of photosynthesis happens when there is light, so the plants won't benefit from the CO2 as much if it's dark when they get it.

Like others said you can add co2 to the tank it would not be a issue unless over dosed
In my case I use pressurized co2 but also use liquid co2 when my co2 needs to be refilled and everything is fine in my setup

@Bithimala
Beautifully said
Just to add
dose liquid co2 minimum 1 hour before lights go on so it can be circulated in the entire tank and plants will have a ready source of carbon

Thanks guys, appreciate the responses I've made so many mistakes learning fish keeping, I should have joined this forum ages ago. Hopefully I'll be able to help some others out on here as I learn more! Another question if you don't mind- I read somewhere that a break in lighting for an hour or two around midday is good for fish/plants ( delete the incorrect one, can't remember which one it was!). Does that make sense to you?

Honestly, I know a lot of people do it, but I'm not really sure why. Some to reduce lighting time if there are algae concerns, maybe others to have more light time when they are around, but as a benefit to fish/plants, I'm not really sure about that.

@Bithtimla, thank you, some of my tanks are shrimp-based so it is probably good for algae growth but the others aren't (all on the sams timer) so would appreciate the input of others
