Euthanize Harlequin Rasbora?

Simply Fish
  • #1
On of my harlequins has a severely bent spine, irritated gills, and seems unable to close its mouth. I was leaving for vacation and plopped it in a tiny two gallon quarantine before leaving, as I only noticed the changes the morning of, to protect others of its school. It hasn't eaten in four days, despite food being offered, with no signs of improvement. My QT isn't cycled, and I feel like I'm painfully killing it. No signs of parasites, but I don't want to put it back in the community tank. All of the other fish are perfectly healthy.
WHAT DO I DO?

It sound like a very painful situation for the fish. If it has a bent spine, there's no going back on that, usually. I would put it out of it's misery. Good luck!

Yes, it sounds agonizing. I’m so sorry.

There’s not much you can do... you could euthanize it by putting it in a small container and slowly adding clove oil.
