Euthanasia Of Betta With Lidocaine Dosage?

Hey, just wondering if anyone has ever done this?
My betta has had dropsy for a few days, and now can't swim or right himself (he's lying on his side), he doesn't eat and his quality of life has just plummeted.
I'm heartbroken, I've had him for over a year.
Anyway, he isn't improving, just getting worse and worse.
I haven't wanted to euthanise him, because I don't want him to leave, I guess..

So, I have some leftover Lidocaine from a previous surgery/for pain relief.
I've been struggling to find clove oil, and I was wondering if this would suffice.
I know for a fact that an overdose of this anaesthetic would result in death, just wondering if anyone has a dosage rate for it.
Anyway, thanks in advance

Sorry its always difficult to let go. Not sure about the Lidocaine. but you can get clove oil if you check the pharmacy in the tooth ache relief section. there are products that contain eugenol which is the chemical in clove oil that will euthanize. I had to do that recently to a guppy I had for close to 2 years. he went peacefully or at least I hope he did he was gone in less than a minute after putting him in the solution. Sorry again.

Lidocaine only numbs pain doesn't put fish to sleep like clove oil. I get it off amazon.com just had to put down a 6" Taiwan Reef that somehow messed up his left pectoral fin and could only swim vertical.

It's just I'm struggling to find clove oil, and ordering it online would take too long. I've checked pharmacy websites and of the likes, with no success.

An overdose of lidocaine would euthanise a fish, there no doubt about that. I'm more wondering if anyone has any experience/dosage rates for it. I read an article about how researchers use lidocaine to euthanise laboratory zebrafish, but it didn't give the dosage.

Lidocaine would work the same way as clove oil, with a smaller dose inducing sleep, and a larger dose inhibiting respiratory function, before cardiac arrest.
