Ethylene Oxide sterilization

eligri

Hi!

I've got some syringes that I use to feed my ropefish and dose plant food.
They however say 'Sterilized with Ethylene Oxide'.
Is that aquarium safe?

I always figured they are fine since they are for (pet) medical use, but not sure.

Cheers

I have never heard of it.
As I presume these are syringes for humans, I'd assume they are safe.
I just wash out syringes and let them dry.
I use them to inject spirulina and astaxanthin into shrimp for Nibbles which reminds me I have to do that again.

Yeah figured they are safe, but ethylene oxide is a pesticide; which is generally unsafe for aquariums. Maybe its highly diluted or something

Did you look up its properties? Because EO is a gas. It doesn't leave any residue and the pesticide application is based on suffocation.
