Please use this topic to post your Endlers Livebearer photos. I'll leave it stickied so it appears at the top of the posts in this section.

Please use your own photos, and not material from the internet.

While your compliments on the photos are really appreciated, text-only posts will be removed after a while to keep the gallery pictures-only. If there is a discussion you do not want to loose, please start it again in a separate thread.

Thanks,
Mike

My first ever Endlers

These guys aren't show quality or anything (I don't intend to breed at this point, so I have all males) but they are still very pretty fish

Some of my endlers. These little guys and gals came from Cichlidnut. A couple of the fry born earlier in December turned out to be black bars. The rest of the males are chilis. The gravel in the males' tank isn't the best color for them but it's what was in there.

(Re)introducing Mouche, Tumbleweed, and Juanico!

Mouche has turned into a semi-colon boy with that unmistakable spot in the middle of his side. Juanico has quite an elongated comma. Tumbleweed is a peacock and very green so far, but he's sitll quite young and could change a lot.

I know, I know, I still need a better camera :b

332089-98b0d8a982fac5861f95c821313f6aad.jpg Does anyone know if this is a K class Tiger, or snakeskin or something else? I have a few of these in a 10 gallon hex tank. My fish store has some RED endlers! Should I buy them and put them in their own tank? There are no females..... The rest of my endlers are Orchids, then the Peacocks, new K class(unsure of exactly what kind),

IMG_20180605_164810.jpg Mystery find I fell for at the lfs. Anyone know what type this is, or if he's a hybrid? He was in the communtity endler tank, so he's almost certainly a mix of some sort, but is there anything close?

Well, those staeck endlers can be very diverse. Overhere at my place I've mixed up the N-class linebred version with the wild phenotypes of those staecks. The wild phenotypes were given to me by Stefan Hetz from the University of Berlin when I was being a judge at the international endler championship overthere.

These are my first live-bearers, mostly just bought for display and not to be bred any time soon.

Can anyone tell me what each of colorations is called? I don't think they're uncommon but pictures for endler IDs are surprisingly hard to find.

Left-yellow with red spots
Middle-pink-purple
Right-blotchy orange and black

they might not fit certain color/patterns but i'd say blonde, magenta / shocking pink, and red chili

From left to right:
Blonde endler, ChilI endler and a mix of a tiger hybrid and chilI endler.

Mind that chilI endlers can be red, pink or magenta. Because of the störzbach gene (coming from the guppy influence) that chilI endlers carry, the coloration may become more pale (specifically in combination with magenta and pink) after some generations.

Male Guppy/Endler tank...
So we still have the guppy male that EmeraldKing helped identify is a 'Tuxedo Red', as well as 2 new additions.
1 'Tiger Endler' male and a 'Green Endler' or is that a 'Black Bar' ? male...wow these are harder than Danios to get a decent picture of! Lol

Your green endler is a black bar endler.
I myself do breed a green endler. I've called these greens neon green endler. They don't show any red or orange. You can establish this by using the Asian blau gene.

Thanks! I was wondering if he was a Black bar when I purchased lol.

These look awesome, very flashy green for sure, Great work!
I used to keep limegreen endlers from the Cumana region in Venezuela for years. But with that strain, culling (selecting) in every generation was needed to keep the quality high. I was pretty much done with that. But still had the urge to keep and breed green ones that were more steady in phenotype. That's why I've started this project last year. And they do breed almost pure now.

Considerable amount of time for sure, I imagine quite a long journey for me and my son with these species...gonna need more tank! But an easy excuse for our mts !

What other species do/have you kept?

The history of Endlers has to be one of the most diverse and unfortunate so far to learn about.
Really fascinating though, how Hobbyist's and breeders have molded the Endler and sometimes preserved original strains.
The many diverse endler/guppy mixes out there and more still coming out... Definitely a fun yet busy fishroom fish!
I don't know how long that shelf we have will stay as empty as it is now lol

I appreciate your reply and sharing of knowledge...a lot of ppl seek money out of just good information these days, so a site like this for a hobby like this is 100% needed.

I've kept several kinds of fish throughout the years. But my main focus has always been livebearers. And a specific focus on rare (wild & fancy) species.
Try to take a look at my website: www.emeraldking-aquatics.com. It's not a commercial website but an informative one and it shows me as being a serious aquarist.

I put my two male endler hybrids together and they instantly started to do a dance/play fight. It lasted way longer than I’ve seen my past males do it.

A bit late to the party discovering these little buggers, but I’m hooked now. At the start of Covid I setup a 10 gal aquarium with some guppies to teach my son life cycles and practical chemistry application since I was going to be homeschooling. A few days after stocking the tank, one of our guppies gave birth. Ffwd a month and one of the fry is clearly different. Ended up doing a lot of reading about what he was and over time took the aquarium brackish. That handsome little fish is now fathering his own handsome little fish.
