okay. I can't decide between a betta and endlers because I ordered the tank so I could FINALLY get a betta, but then I found out endlers will fit in the tank and they're pretty hahaha. so conflicted.

It is a pretty tough choice, I'll give you that LOL

I had my Endler's in a 5 gallon until today, when they moved up to a 10 They are very active and have great personalities. I love my little Endler's

I kept 10 males in a 5 gallon. They did just fine. I moved them into larger tanks with female endlers and the 5 is now a shrimp only tank.

Shame on you
It's a tough choice- you can have more endlers, and they're very bright, whereas bettas have huge showy fins and a large variety of vivid colors... good luck.

So... how do you think your parents will react?

I'm sure if I bring it up after I'm done with graduation stuff they won't care.

Endlers in a 5 gallon should be fine.
The more you make the tank interesting the more your Endlers will appreciate it.
By that, I mean with plants and/or decorations.

They love to go into things and come out of hideouts =)
It's like they go on discovery mode when you have the tank with plants/decorations.

Good morning,

Please remember to check the dates of the Original Post before responding. More than likely the issue has already been resolved.

Thanks!

Hi! I've been curious about the Endlers Livebearers and if they would be able to go in a 5 gallon like about 3. Would that work or would that be overstocked? Thanks for any replies!

Sure, I would get around 4 or 5 if you have a filter are you planning to put any more fish in the 5 gallon ?

Are you talking about 3 male endlers or a mix of male and females. Do you want babies? I would think 3 or 4 males or 1 male and three females would work but you would need another tank for the babies to grow up in. Alison

I was thinking like only like 3 males only and nothing else so would that be good?

And yes I will have a filter

Yep, that would be totally ok in a 5 gallon

I have 3 male endler's, and they're great They swim all over the place, though they tend to hang out at the top. You'll enjoy them.

I was actually researching for a while on Endlers because this lady at petsmart months ago gave me false information like guppies are somewhat aggressive and they would eat endlers if you put them together. Lesson learned, do your research before getting new aquatic fish and don't listen to people that don't know anything on what they're doing lol

Thanks ClearEyes I'm looking forward to having some

Good it's males, because females imo would be too big.
Males get 1 inch and females are 1.8.

I love endlers but I can't put them in any of my tanks bc they rnt compatible with bettas... I want a cheap small tank just to have for em, could I put them in a 5? and would they breed? I would sell the fry to the pet store if they do which would bd fun to do I have bred bettas so I know what to do (I think at least lol) oh id also need a rly cheap light for it which I don't have any recommendations?

Females get larger than males and will regularly release 30-100 fry every month or so.

I'm no pro, but u think you could do a trio (mff) in that tank and get away with it as long as you are sure you can get rid of your fry before they are fully colored. Otherwise, 3x5 gallons is there way to go for the smallest of endler breeding operations of you want to be hassle free and grow them to 3-4 months/colored.

Here's my current experience, specifically my breeding observations, as someone who happened into it, and happened to have about 5 gallons(originally...):

As far as fry production, I get about 8-12 fry per female about once a month. I have predominantly endler hybrid mutts. In a 5 gallon (though not common dimensions ~ 16" long x 12wide x 6 deep so tons of swimming room for 5 gallons relatively). In that tank I can have 3 females (no males in this one unless I'm pairing them for a week) comfortably dropping fry and the fry staying in the tank up to one month before it's way too crowded. Then the fry are moved. I can typically sex them between 4 and 6 weeks, they (males)will show a decent amounts of color by 8 weeks, and are fully reproductive between 3-4 months old.

I now have quite a few ~5 gallon grow outs, and am slowly stocking a 29 with my favorite males from each batch. I think you can do it in a 5 but be ready to cull your females if you over run your LFS. I keep a predator reptile, and that's how I got started in it so it came a little easier for me than some others when I had "too many fish".

gotcha my question was like what kinda fish I could even feed the fry to or one that could live in the five and eat it but o well... I think I might get two fives and put the females in one and males in the other... when I want them to breed ill just bring them together or whatever... or maybe ill do like one male in it or something idk ill figure it out when I do more research... but thanks

People might not agree with me but I breed guppies and endlers in 5 gallon tanks and I have no issue with having 5-15 fish in one tank. I do two water changes a week to keep the water quality good and I remove the fry weekly and transfer them to my grow out tanks.

But the thing is that even if you could fit another fish in there they won't eat all the fry.

My fish rarely eat them and I use plastic tubs to grow them out with a air stone/sponge filter. But I sell the fry once they are a month old so I remove them to prevent $$ loss.
