Endler just kinda disappeared in marineland portrait

I have 2 endlers in my Marineland portrait as of right now (it's newly set up) I cycled with filter media. Saw the tank this morning, one endler was acting a bit off and the other wasn't to be seen I tested the water and a .5 - 1 ppm ammonia reading showed up. This is probably from the controsoil in the tank and my tap water. I did a water change and checked the filter, but I don't see anything...

There would've been a significant ammonia spike if it died, so it must be somewhere...

Check around the outside. A determined fish can jump even through small gaps.

Also, any cats in the house?

the lid is so ridiculously tight-fitting that I chipped a fingernail trying to get it open. I think a fish could've been sucked into the filter(Common thing with this apparently ) but I checked and there's nothing..

I really wish I had a cat...
EDIT - Should I attach a picture?

Might help with ideas. Could it be just hiding well in a bunch of plants? Took me an hour to find my betta the other day because it was in between driftwood and plants and was hard to get an angle to see in that space.

I have this exact tank (and fish) and make sure to close the lid off, but one day I found a fish on the floor.
