10 Gallon Tank Ember tetras breeding?

I have 6 ember tetras in a 10 gal with a dwarf gourami and some ghost shrimp and I want to breed the ember tetras. It is hard to find them in stores and when I do they have ich which I don’t want to introduce to my tank and buying them online (where I got the current ones) is expensive. I want to breed them but I haven’t seen much on them, more on other tetras species. I’m curious to know if anyone has had a lot of success and how.
I plan on putting some java mods in there

Do I need a larger school? Will the dwarf Gourami eat the babies? Although he doesn’t seem aggressive. Should I isolate them? Will the ghost shrimp eat them? Tbh they are pretty good size. Thanks

Sub-stratum egg scatterers meaning they lay them under the sand slightly. All your fish will eat the fry. Ember tetras are best bred in a huge lightly stocked community tank with sand or in a small species only tank with sand.

They do not spawn in the sand, they spawn in thick plants. I had a half dozen in a long 30 with very large clumps of Java Moss, and eventually took a little over a dozen out of that tank. The other fish in the tank was a pair of Rivulus xiphidius, a relatively small killifish, but I'm sure they got some of the fry/eggs.

The term Substrate spawners is usually applied to Cichlids that spawn on a rock or other solid surface on the bottom.

Huh maybe it’s the lack of plants that have mine acting different. I’ve seen clusters of eggs slightly buried and they hatched embers, only happened once successfully.

Thank you. I have them in the 10 but I want to isolate a few just until they spawn. Do you think I would be able to put a breeding pair in a one gallon until they spawn and then bring them back to the 10 gal? I’ve heard the babies also grow really slowly and you should isolate them from the parents and since I have the dwarf Gourami I’d rather isolate the young before any of the fish get to them.

I could also regulate the temp more and do pretty frequent water changes

Also how do you sex them? How many would they produce in like one batch (lol I know that’s not the correct term)

Following. I want to breed my embers also. Right now they're in a community tank... As far as sexing, I'm guessing the two I have that are slightly larger than the other three are female; they also have fat bellies, though they never stop moving long enough for me to catch a glimpse of any eggs.
