    Hello Everyone,
I'm planning to get 6-8 Ember Tetras for my 10G.

Is it okay if I Quarintine them in a 5 gallon? Must I add decor or hiding places or things like that? If so, any suggestions?

Should be fine since it's temporary. Adding decor or plants would help reduce stress.

They'll be fine in a 5 gal quarantine for a couple weeks. Some cover / decor will help. If you can, go with 8 as these guys can be shy and appreciate lots of their own kind. Mine were very shy as a group of 7 in my 20 gal long, but they were alot more confident after I increased their numbers.

    Hi again guys,
Would fake plants be okay, their quite tall. I have 2-3 of them I can use.

Also, how do I acclimate them from th my QT tank to the main tank, I'm pretty sure the tempretures are quite similar because I don't use a heater in any of my tanks (I live in Indonesia which is a tropical country.)

    Fake plants would be fine!

No need to acclimate if you're transferring between tanks in your own house, especially if the temp is the same. When I transfer between the QT to the main tank, I just net the fish from one tank right into the other.

    Alright, Noted with Thanks!

Normally, do Ember Tetra tanks HAVE to be heavily planted? Or there just has to be cover?

Do you mean in the QT or main tank?

I think if it's at least moderately covered, that would be ok.

    Alright.
I'm planning to keep a betta or Peacock Gudgeon with them.

My betta has been kept with baby mollies before and has showed no agression.

I'll be prepared to seperate fish if anything goes wrong.

Do you think that'll be okay?

In a 10g, I wouldn't keep a betta with other fish. I think peacock gudgeons may be ok with ember tetras.

But would it be okay to try and see how it goes? Or should I not even attempt it?
    I'm aware it's a risk

I wouldn't attempt it, not in this tank size.

I ended up getting 12 for about Rp.10.000 which is about $0.75. They are still rather small but not that small.

I was originally going to get 10 but the guy at the store threw in 2 more for free.

Their doing fine in the 5 gallon, and are making friends with the one platy I bought as well.
