Ember Tetra Color... Question

    The left one in first pic, the center in second pic... 54129AAB-B8DF-4B70-9295-D5F9A1AC6D57.jpeg 31579864-32D2-4DED-BB0E-4E3C10F13B86.jpeg So I’ve had these 4 embers since December or so. I noticed today that one of them is darkening near the rear/tail end, could this have anything to do with gender? Here’s a couple of bad photos of him/her...thanks!

    I never seen that before. I have both male and female Ember tetras, and none of them have that dark marking. The females are noticeably rounder. Males look a bit skinny in comparison.

    That’s sort of what I was thinking too BUT.....he quit schooling and finally disappeared a few days ago, I can only assume he died and my shrimp ate him :(

    Sorry to hear that. I guess these sort of things will happen to all of us sooner or later. I have a small 9 gal tank with 6 Ember Tetras. Most of the time I can only see 5 of them. One guy is really shy or the others are shunning him. But they all love to play tag.
