Elodea Densa Care?

I've had this plant for less than 2 weeks and its size almost tripled. It's called Elodea Densa, bought on Amazon (UK). I was wondering if anyone has any advice how to care about the plant, how to prune it. I know that the cut off bits can be tied together with a weight in the tank and let grow again, but not really sure what I can cut off.

Any advice appreciated. Thank you.

You're very fortunate that it's doing well! When I was growing up and inherited a bowl of guppies, it also had elodea in it, and that plant and its shoots stayed with me for years. Just trim as needed. You may be able to sell the pieces you don't need

Actually, I never put it in any substrate but always let it float freely. No need to use weights.

Just trim a few inches off when it becomes too long for your liking and plant the cutting in the substrate.

Thank you both. It's starting to cover the top of the water so I will cut it tomorrow. If it continues growing like this, I'll have the whole background covered in no time

I'm curious, what is your water temp?

Stable 77 degrees. In actually really surprised it's thriving so much as I'm usually not good with keeping plants alive. I had to trim it yesterday and got 13 new stems tied in 2 groups and planted in the gravel.

That is like 5e easiest plant to keep. Some people just don’t have good luck due to temp.

77 will make it grow pretty quickly.

TrI'm off 3 inch portions and replant them if you want.

If not, you can spread it to other tanks.
