Electric Blue Acara Or Angelfish?

I currently have a 40 Gl breeder with a pair of Blue german rams and a few tetras and corys.

Will it be ok if I purchase either 1 juvenile electric blue acara? I have gotten different opinions from diff fish stores. One said the EBA will eat all my tetras and not be compatible with my german rams. Is one EBA out of the question with my current stocking and future stocking of schooling fish?

If I weren't to get a EBA I was thinking 1 juvenile Angelfish? I've gotten mixed reviews on angelfish as well. But the majority say Angelfish are more likely to work with most fish.

The acara will try to eat any fish small enough for sure. Angles will too, but have smaller mouths. They're both(all) cichlids, and generally act like it.the acara is definitely more of a bully than the angle tho but I like them better.

I loved my acara but he was bully.
Honestly in that set up I wouldn’t add either

I have a EBA and he's not that aggressive but of the rams pick on him the rams are done for.

Hi, you didn't say what kind of tetras. If you have cardinals or neons they will become an expensive meal for either EBA's or Angelfish as tetras are part of their natural diet in the wild. The only cichlids I will trust with tetras are ramirezi. My tank has 12 cardinals and two fully grown rams with no problems.
Hope this helps you.

I have an EBA who is a sweetie but he gets chased by the other cichlids. I'm keeping a wary eye out for everybody. I lost my angel because she was attacked by other cichlids, not my EBA. She also was not assertive.

I've had great luck with my 7 angelfish and 2 rams (plus a multitude of other fish) in a 135 gallon tank. The angelfish only bother each other and leave the rams alone completely, but that behavior could possibly change with only one angelfish. As far as the tetras go I would say you could probably get away with any species bigger than cardinals or neons. (I have seen many people do rummynose tetras although i've never done it personally.) A lot just depends on the temperament of the specific fish.
