Electric Blue Acara Fry

Some of my electric blue acaras laid eggs in my community tank and since they hatched the number of fry has slowly been decreasing. Would it work to transfer the parents and the remaining babies into an uncycled tank or would the ammonia kill the fry?

I put a few fry in there a day or two ago and they seem fine but it's hard to feed them I figure that the parents would probably keep them in one area which would make feeding them with a turkey baster a bit easier.

In my opinion I think ur beneficial bacteria couldnt keep up with the bioload of the new fish possibly causing an ammonia/nitrite spike. I would do a 50% water change asap. I would also purchase Prime by seachem and Stability by seachem. When adding new fish a lot of ppl use Stability to help the beneficial bacteria catch up 2 the new bioload.

I'm in the same boat as you are. My EBA sniffed butts and now they laid eggs on my plants and some them hatched. The male is guarding a little hole they dug up and I can see them wiggling around. I'm not doing much with my fry, if they live they live if they don't they don't.

I'll do my best to see if they survive and I did get a pellet to land in that area...

It's a shoot putting them in another tank. You can stress the parents out as well as the fry themselves. Once you get them in there you have to worry about the suction of the water as well as trying to feed them...all I can say is best of luck to you and me.

It works well to feed them brine shrimp eggs or any other powdered fry food with a turkey baster that's what I've been using in another tank. It probably would stress them out too much especially since the tank isn't cycled. I think I'll try to move the parents in there for their next batch of fry
