55 Gallon Tank Eheim Heater Wattage

Hello, I need to heat my 55 gallon to 77 degrees farenheit and I was originally going to get two 300w Eheim Jager heaters for each end. Is that overkill? Can I put two of a lower wattage on both ends and get the desired temperature? This is mtfurst time heating a big tank as my 75 gallon is a cool water tank (no heater).

I have a 150 watt on my 50g. a 200 watt would be fine but obviously larger ones are going to be faster at heating the tank.

Would two 150w on either side keep the tank sufficiently heated?

2 x 150 watts will be fine. I have 2 x 200 watts on my 75 gallons.

You could get an Inbird temp controller, plug both your heaters in it and have very constant temperatures. It will shut them off when hot enough, preventing overheating, and turn them on when too cold.

I thought the heaters did that on their own when it's too hot or cold. Do Eheim Jagers not do that?

Yes, they do, but the Inkbird protects your fish from heater malfunction. It’s an added protection and it will give you more precise and stable temperature values.

Oh, alright. I'll look into one of those, then, thanks!
