HI Guys,
This is my fist post on his forum looking for experienced help.
Info about tank:
240 ltr, proper stocking levels, ph7.8, nitrate 30ppm, no nitrite or ammonia. planted tank.

Ok I have several YoYo Loaches one of which is Egg Borne/Laden (don't know the correct terminology) I am looking for a way to help this girl.
it is definitely not bloat or parasitic which leaves 2 many eggs.

I have heard that epsom salt baths could be a good idea but I don't know how this would work with her being a scaleless fish.

Please see attached

All help most welcome.

Thanks

I think epsom salt will help but I’m not really sure. Hopefully some more experienced can help you!!!!

I have to disagree with you, that is most assuredly bloat. Why would you think that it isn't?

Don't think it is standard bloat due to having tried peas for digestion. She has gotten this big over a period of 3 months. She poos regularly. However my main question is weather Epsom salts would help in this situation or whether there are other things I should try. The loaches really don't like being moved from the tank And they are tricky to catch.

Also. She is swimming normal just like the other yoyo loaches

Well, if it is eggbound, you can verify that by cutting it open after it dies. Because if that is eggbound, then it will certainly die. There is no non-surgical way to force release of eggs once the fish is eggbound. They have cemented together inside, and unless she can reabsorb them, which seems unlikely at this point, they will eventually cause internal damage that will kill her. I would go ahead and try an epsom salts bath, as that may loosen it up if it is just bloated, even when peas didn't work.

It just seems odd to be eggbound, as I have had female Yoyos get heavy, but they always reabsorbed them after a few weeks of no male activity.

What quantity of Epsom salts would you suggest per gallon?
I really do appreciate the reply and I hope I'm wrong about her being eggbound.
Thanks
