so I have a mixed cichlid tank. More American than African but I want to add a fire eel to the tank. Can anyone help me out and let me know if it’s a good idea or not?

To my knowledge, its a big no-no to mix American and African Cichlids. Africans are typically more aggressive from what I know. What's the tank size?

Yeah it’s true about mixing them but the mixture I have seems to be working well so far. It’s a 40 gal tank. 1 Jack Dempsey. 2 black convicts. 1 orange blossom. And 1 auratus

Considering Fire Eels get 3 feet long, I don't think it would be wise to house it in a 40 gallon breeder for long, if at all.

Ropefish?
They kinda look like eels and won’t bother anything that can’t fit in it’s mouth.
