So we went to the lfs for a small heater, in short I came back with mandarin already, its tattered and I did not want it as I'm not ready yet, but my gf didn’t want to leave it as she knows that's what we are working up to getting.

743a3b028f74a25628710b0dc90397f3.jpg a piece of its dorsal fin came off and when I got it home it sort of just lay still on the bottom, but 40 mins with no flow and getting squirted with baby brine and pods and its as active as my other fish. Il just put extra time in with the baby brine until my culture is strong, I bought some pods to just use as food too. I put a Video on my insta. Gs_reef.

So pretty. I'm sure it has lots of coloring up to do still too. It'll be even better.

Xbox62 Just the one lol, this one will keep my pod kitchen busy, I just hope I can keep up, hopefully it will be productive and I can dump thousands in the tank and get them to colonize, think Il fashion a pod hotel in the tank like Nart has. You seen his interview with inappropriate reefer Ethan ?

Been watching this little fish since I got it, literally all its doing is raping my tank for pods

Hi,
I haven't seen the interview .

I found this a while back when I was planning for my 250, it may help with keeping the pods in the tank and not getting eaten:

Very interesting, I might actually get that and just throw it round the back of my scape in a nice quiet spot.

grantm91 I have a culture going and I've got several thousand in 1 of my 2.5 gallon section, going to harvest tonight. I need to clean the tank,. So I planned on draining the entire tank, and getting them set up with clean water and a clean tank!

I've even harvested 2 times now last month. They multiply like crazy in cultures...I'm tempted to buy some bottles so that I can store them and use them later! Last night I checked with a light, and my glass was covered about 8 in long and 2 in wide in them, solid white!

I mean I just toss in some phyofeast every couple days make sure it's a green tint, and spot light them every few days to see how they are coming along. I also bought some sieves so I can pour water into them and then harvest it. Though I feel I could have made them myself but for $50 it was worth just waiting 24 hours for them to ship.

That's what I bought to harvest, the 53 just collects the algae, and maybe some of the smaller ones but I haven't noticed any wiggles when I shine a light underneath.

Usually when I harvest them I only have around a gallon and then just dump the water back in there so I don't have to change the water as often. I'll post a picture of mine when I get home later.

Ive been shining a weak growlight on them all day as I put two balls of cheato in there lol, Those sieves look like a great bit of kit, I only have one for getting the pods.I'm the same salinity and temp as my display, are you the same ? Here is mine.

cdca771bacde1080a11ddb0814dc3fa6.jpg there are a few on the glass, I only set it up last Thursday night, I'm just desperate or it to do well as you know I already have the fish.

Would this work?:

If you put a small return pump in the kitchen that leads to the tank, and the same in the tank leading into the kitchen, a steady supply of copopods would be sucked into the tank, and the kitchen would stay the same peramiters as the tank, like a minI sump?

Ah see I don't have anything in mine, just the water and a bunch of gunk in the bottom of the tank, which is normal they will eat it.

My salinity is the same as my tank, but I don't have a heater in it at all. It's just whatever the room temp is. And man are they thriving!

I've read several people in the northern US just leave it in their basement on the concrete with no heater. Plus also depends on what pods you've got. I have tisbe and tigger pods, and they have been doing much better in the colder temperatures in my house recently.

Could also just read up on the temp req. on certain pods, there's a bunch of google scholar articles if you search for them. I got bored one day and read a couple.

You might need a large pod hotel in your display for it to work with the beasty spotted Mandy lol. Stuff it with chaeto in the middle and put some rocks to weigh it down.

Up that baby brine shrimp feeding Grant! You might want to try 3 times a day from what I can tell with the stomach

Definitely need a pod hotel, I been going feeding three times per day, hatching new shrimps everyday, I harvest in the morning, so its like a cup of pods and bbs to last the day, it looks so happy and loves foraging, need to look up white worms still ! Also instead of throwing all the juvenile brines out, I'm giving them spirulina and giving them to the fish.

Looks like an energy drink, those ones with industrial waist and 1000000 calories per drop?

grantm91 ,
I have a funny cheato story, so I had it in the chamber with the return pump. Recently my return pump has been working really badly, I was trying to run tap water through to unblock it but with no result. Until I opened it. It was full of cheato.

I've moved the cheato and will not make the same mistake again .

Haha, it happens to me Ethan in that jug of rocks I have, If you want it in that chamber just place a piece of filter sponge between the pump and cheato.

, I named mine Bartholomew, don't ask why it just sort of stuck.
Mine was £16.99 but my mum got it for me as an early birthday present. I've always wanted a crab of some sort. I'll include some pics when he comes out of hiding.

Also cleaned the reef and got some neat pics...
