Easy Feeder Fish To Breed

I have a 10” Oscar and a 6” and would like to supplement their diet with some feeder fish. I used to buy my feeders from petsmart but I learned about the risk of parasites and disease. I have never breed fish so I’m thinking some sort of livebearer.

The best foods to give your Oscars are commercial kinds, like HikarI and Tetra. Also Oscars aren’t as piscivorous as people think. In the wild they eat mostly invertebrates, like insects and crustaceans. So if you want supplementation, then maybe try shrimp and crawfish, instead.

mollies, platies, guppies, they grow quickly and breed prolificly. marbled crayfish are also a good choice. if you are willing to break claws then you don't have to worry about cannibalism as much.

Crickets, meal and white Worms, and the commercial farm favorite Black Soldier Fly larva would be a better supplement to grow yourself for Oscars. But I agree with Kasshan if its fish you really want to propagate he hit the go toos.
