East TN (Knoxville Area) Stores

I have to brag on some stores in my area, one is called the Aquarium it is AWESOME! they can get any species of fish you are looking for freash or saltwater, plus if you have a question they are staffed with the best of the best when it comes to people who know their fish. We have never got a sick fish out of 5 years buying fish from them, my mother also has shopped with them for at least that many years. Their equipment is wonderful!
My next knoxville store is the west town petsmart, the fish section was so impressive! they were clean no ich, I actually felt safe to buy some guppies the other day and from a chain that's saying a lot! We also purchased our 55 gallon setup frm them w/ the works today, I will update on the quality of that.. I am impressed already w/ what I have seen taking it out of the box.
Close to knoxvillle in Oak Ridge, TN is a store called Harrys Aquarium, my husbands grandmother shoped there in the 80's when Harry had fish in his basement, then he turned it into a pet store the staff are just like the Aquarium in Knoxville, well knowledged and the species of fish are freashwater and saltwater, very clean and healthy....
Another one I have to mention I checked out but never have bought from there is Fins -n- skins the fish were very healthy clean tanks, and the people were helpful. We might actually buy a couple fish from them for the cheaper prices they offer.

The above 3 had no tattoed or painted fish either, the people working at these 3 stores were more concerned w/ the welfare of the fish they sold than the money they would make they would actually say what size tank do you have? Oh no, you can't have that fish, that's too much for that, or that doesn't go w/ that... they were VERY honest!

I have boycotted every store from my house in Claiborne CO (almost in KY) to Knoxville TN besides those 4 stores fish wise or equipment wise, that includes around 15 stores.... We have done a lot of shopping in the past 2 months looking for tanks, just the other day a fish store I used to trust had ich in 5 tanks, was selling Tattooed fish, tried to sell a woman an oscar for a 20 gallon tank while I was there I walked out and swore off the place for life. A new store about 20 min from my house is open, they told my mom she could put 2 oscars in a 10 gallon tank.... I am so glad my mom consulted me first! I said no way! She even bought a 10 gallon tank and I said you could if you were intending to buy a 150 gallon tank in about a couple weeks... Therefore I don't trust that store either. So now my mom is going to do the guppy thing in the 10g.

I hope that helps anyone from East TN shopping for fish/fish supplies...

About an hours drive south of the Knoxville stores is Dinosfishhouse.
We have 120 tanks, over 50 species of fish and 30 strains of livebearer.
As well as, many species of both hardy pond and tropical aquariumplants.

Yea. The best store around here is in Phenix City. The only bad thing is they sell fish that get really large and tattoed fish. You're lucky to have that many good ones.

There is a get together being planned at Dino's Fishhouse on 4/19/08. It's a 9 hour drive for me and well worth it. If you can, put it on your calendar to be there! It would be great to meet you! Dino's Fishhouse rocks!

Once or twice a year Dino/CWC hosts a get together for fish enthusiasits to tour the fishhouse and even shop a little. We won't get to be there this year but have had a great time in the past.
It's really cool being able to put faces to names, especially people who share an interest in the same hobby. There are some really intense fish discussions too

I have to ask where exactly in TN is Dinosfishhouse? My husband and I are searching for some other cichlid species, and some other tank stuff and some plants.... so our next day off together we might go on a road trip... (on my 30th birthday of coarse... so I get to pick anything I want!!)
