Dyed Aquarium Fish?

I was searching around the lfs review section of the forum and I learned about dyed fish! I always knew there were some little tetras and whatnot that were dyed, but I started hearing about big parrotfish and even arowanas being dyed? That’s crazy! Apparently the dye is injected into the them. I personally don’t see the point and think it’s quite cruel, but then again I am just learning of this now. Anyone else have an opinion or some info on this? I’m curious now.

I've seen dyed giant gouramis before, but this is the first time of hearing a dyed arowana.

I was reading about it on monster fish keepers forum I think. Strawberry arownana it was called… let me google it!

Silver Strawberry Arowana? Here’s where I heard about it, super weird, I’d be fine to have an arowana as is.

I don't know much about "dying" but it really seems kind of unethical imo. You're injecting the fish with dye to create colors. I feel like you should just leave them as they are with natural colors. Dying fish reminds me of people who clip their dogs ears for appearance, and stuff like that. I mean yeah it looks amazing, I just don't know the whole ethics of it.

I mean, if someone knows more than me about it let me know. I'm just assuming it's probably not a safe practice.

It is simply unneeded, unwanted and ridiculous to me.

But we humans seem to think we're allowed to do anything to and with animals.

I refuse to buy any fish that has been altered in any way. I also feel like it is cruel and unecessary.
