I have 2 dwarf gouramis in a 29 gallon and it's lightly planted. Some anacharis and micro sword or something like that and 4 pieces of water lettuce. The 2 dwarf gouramis don't really fight but one chased the other. Its weird because sometimes there swimming side by side and others the big one is chasing the smaller one. All parameters are good. Forgot to say both are male

Well I don't think the side by side stuff is being friendly, they are sizing each other up, very common with male bettas to swim side by side before a fight.

The reason they are fighting is becasue they are both male. 2 male DG equals one male DG in the end.

How long have you had them?
How big are they? You’ll likely have more issues as they mature.

I've had them for about a week now

Thanks for the pic.

Another part of the problem is that the tank is very sparse with no cover, so the victI'm will fall very soon because there is nowhere to go to escape the bully's wrath.
Would adding more plants and maybe stones help? Or should I return one.

return one. I have bad memories of a DG that broke my pearl gourami's spine.
Okay thank you

Can I keep just 1 with other fish?

I bought a DG and loved it so much and was considering getting another until I started seeing a lot of people saying that you can only have more than Male DGs together if you have more Females. Male DGs do not mix from everything that I've learned. Luckily, I found that out before getting another! Female DGs are also hard to find except through a couple of online places.

I agree with the take one back.
