Dwarf Gourami was stuck in clay pot!

I got home to find Blue, one of my Dwarf Gouramis stuck in a clay pot look like a vase with holes in the sides a local made sold at the LFS. Poor thing he wanted to go forward I wanted him to go backwards. So I got a good hold of him and got him out. He is bruised and missing some scales on top. His pelvic fins are gone. I put a little aquarium salt in for I was out of Seachem Stress.

He seems fine swimming around. Today is a new day. I will watch him see if he will eat

Was not sure where to put this so I put it here.

Anyone have anything to say or suggestions for faster healing please feel free.

The best thing you can do for him is keep his water pristine. A few extra water changes wouldn't hurt. Years ago I had a cory caught in a piece of decor. Had no Idea the little guy could fit in it but if there is a hole fish will wiggle in. That little cory healed up and went on to live for several more years.

If there is no internal damage the external damage should heal and no infection should set in as long as you keep his water as fresh and clean as possible.

Yes I don’t know if I would want to add to my aquarium though. He is healing fine thank you though. Otherwise I love my oils

My betta, Freddy, was stuck in a tree decor which was so small I didn’t think would be a problem (it was a place for the shrimp to hide) but she managed to squeeze in there. I saw it pretty quick and got her out and took her to the surface to breathe. She wasn’t missing any fins but some scales were gone and her fins were torn up. I kept the water super clean and put some stress coat in there (it actually helps) and she was back to normal within a few weeks. Hope your little guy is okay.

Elbert says thanks He is a character and happens to be my favorite but I won't let all my other fish know that Evelyn and Little Red (super red bristlenose plecos) are running a very close second place to him. I just wish they were as chilled out as he is. He is out and about most of the time. The little ones run and hide when they see me

Check out the 2nd photo in the first post of this thread. That is a photo of Little Red in my 5.5 gallon tank. It is much harder to get a photo of Evelyn. I just lucked out getting this one of Little Red.

I would have taken the pot out cracked it open and freed the fish up and threw the pot away.

They are hard to see but the Little guy already has bristles Evelyn is just a little bit bigger than he is and of course has no bristles.

Elbert was super tiny when I fist got him about 4 years ago. He was with me for at least 6 months before I knew for sure he was a little boy. Bristles started around his lip. Before long they got longer and started up his nose. It was at that point I was sure he was a male.
Elbert started out his life living with Jethro, my common pleco and they got along just fine. I can't say for sure the 2 of yours will get along with each other.

So females have no brisles
Some folks report that they might have tiny ones around their mouth but normally, no they don't have them. I know Evelyn doesn't have any and I know for a fact that she is a female because she and Elbert gave me about 50 pleco fry.

Wow so cool I like when I read how hard it is to do this. Then I come on here and find that most of you are doing it gives me hope. I am in a small apartment for now but hopefully by summer I will be in a house so I can set up breeder tanks and the such. Now I am super excited.

So the oils don’t cloud the water at all How many drops do you put in

Put a male and a female together. Give him some kind of cave and before long you will have pleco fry. Since Elbert is my favorite fish I was concerned about his well being. I was afraid he wouldn't come out to eat while taking care of the eggs. I ended up moving the eggs to another tank and allowed them to hatch without him. All of them did and now I have an estimated 50 pleco fry.

Check This out. It is a thread I posted after I found eggs.

Maybe I should read back but why would you need to add any kind of oils to your tank?

Hopefully you will find out one day soon. Evelyn is about one third the size of Elbert. I truly was amazed she could have so many eggs in her little body. My fry are now 14 weeks old and absolutely adorable.

Jeepers has no sign of brisles, close to 2” body is tiny. I wonder if I put her in the 30 gallon if she will grow more. I should take the small Clown Pleco put it in the 20 and move Cousin It the male Albino BN to the 30. I would love to put them in the 55 but the Albino Salifin Pleco is in there boy growing fast.

I can imagine how fun it is to watch your fry (babies) grow. I had fun just reading about it.

Evelyn was in the tank with Elbert almost 3 months before she laid the eggs. I was beginning to think it was not going to happen and then it did. She was a proven female that had laid eggs before I was fortunate enough to get her so I knew she was old enough. Elbert had been with me for 3 1/2 years and appears full grown so I thought he should be old enough.

This like so many things in this hobby takes a boat load of patience. Just put them together in the 30. Add some kind of caves for him. I would add more than one just to give him choices. And then just give them time. They will bless you with fry when they get good and ready to do so.

I am sure it will take a lot of time. They are not even 6 months old yet. Maybe in that time they will fall for each other that is if Jeepers turns into a female

Thanks for your information and including me in on the thread of your fry. Love it

Matt girl I did what I said boy I got a little wet. . A couple things hanging in the water while I tried to get Jeepers she’s so tiny. I really think she likes her new home I have sitting chairs by each of my aquariums so I can watch them all.
She came right up and stayed by me until I left. You like how I am calling her a she. I got a good look though the upper lip is very smooth but time will till. I haven’t seen my Clown Pleco since I moved him or her. I know CP will like the tank because Cousin It did
