Dwarf Gourami - Odd Behaviour?

Question for all you gourami experts. My single dwarf gourami spends most of his days swimming back and forth along the front glass of the tank near the bottom. Right above the substrate. He isn't being picked on or picking on anyone. He looks healthy and is eating well and I've no reason to believe anything's wrong, except this is not the normal behaviour for this fish from what I've read. It's just what he's always done. Input?

Is there a reflection? He could be seeing his reflection thinking it is a rival male and is showing him who is boss.

There is a reflextion... on closer examination from the side of tank... He's kind of swimming INTO the glass

So it looks like he's working 2x as hard to swim.

Gouramis always tend to have their own personality. If there is for sure nothing wrong with the conditions of his/her tank or anything then it may just be in the nature of your specific fish. There’s also a possibility that it’s lonely. Maybe get one more? I’ve got a pair of gouramis (one gold and one blue) and they love to swim around the tank together.

I was advised to only have one. Would a female be a good choice for a second?

Only have one male per tank, how big is your tank and what tankmates? If you got a female lesser tank mates will get harassed or killed.

Before you add any more fish you have stocking issues. First Tiger Barbs, Danios, and Cories need schools of 6+ and in this size tank 8-10+. Rainbow Sharks get too large and are aggressive and will kill your Cories and Danios off. This stock would be better.
10 Tiger Barbs
12 Pearl Danios
12 Leopard Cories

Will rainbow sharks temperments change as they age? Cause he chases the tigers on occasion but completely ignores both the corys and the danios

I guess it just depends on the fish cause I’ve got two males and they do great together.
