Dwarf Gourami eating hair algae

1567

I'm having a bit of an algae bloom o_O that I've been treating with API Algaefix (I've only added two doses by now) and by cutting the light time. I have a 20 gallon tank with two dwarf gouramis and seven glowlight tetras. There's a lot of hair/thread algae growing on some of my plants, including the floating ones and one of my gouramis has been eating it. Her poop is green and thicker/stringier than usual, but it doesn't seem to be hurting her (though it is creating a bit of a mess in the tank). My main concern was if she choked on it. Can she choke on it? Is it bad for her to eat a lot of algae? All of my fish seem fine right now, but can hair algae be harmful? Thanks for your time and consideration :)

Algae are / should be a part of a DG's diet
