Illness & Symptoms
How long have you had this fish? About 6 months
How long ago did you first notice these symptoms? A couple days ago, after being bullied in a different tank
In a few words, can you explain the symptoms?
White stuff coming off of damaged scales. Had a day or so of lethargy but is eating and swimming normally now.
Have you started any treatment for the illness? I have introduced stress coat and sulfaplex in case it is a slime coat issue, or a fungus
Was your fish physically ill or injured upon purchase? Not at purchase
How has its behavior and appearance changed, if at all?
She now has white stuff on both sides of her body.
Explain your emergency situation in detail. (Please give a clear explanation of what is going on, include details from the beginning of the illness leading up to now)
My female dwarf gourami was getting bullied by one of my mollies. The molly kept nipping at her sides. I decided to separate them and moved my dg to a calmer tank to rest up and relax. She now has white stuff on both sides of her body where she was being nipped. I am not sure if it is slime coat trying to heal the wounds, or a fungal infection. She had a day or so of lethargy as she healed up, I kept the lights off for 2 days. She is now swimming normally and eating, no heavy breathing, behaving perfectly healthy. But there is still this strange white stuff on her.

whatever the case, that fish is in bad condition, if you have the means, quarantine it immediately.

Quarantine ASAP. Looks like some sort of bacterial infection.

Dwarf gourami don't handle disease really well... hopefully everything goes right, looks like a bacterial infection as said above maybe from open wounds, research treatment and be careful..

ive seen this wound before when one of my fish sat on the heater all night. sadly it passed away, but if I were you I would use some hikari ultimate or api stress coat before anything else.

I have been using stress coat and sulfaplex. Should I be using something else for treatment?

I woke up this morning to find the white patch peeled off of her body. It appears it was dieing skin. Now she has a giant open wound on her side. She is still eating breathing and behaving normally. I'm hoping this is just part of her healing process. I'm so worried about her.

Yep I was right, it is an open wound from the fighting, you should quarantine ASAP, there is a product I use but forgot the name, it helps with fin rot and open wounds, I'll check in it for you, the bacteria is an infection from the fight
