Dwarf Crayfish in a Community Tank

Hey all. I'm looking to populate my 20g tall, and my wife and I want to have at least 1 dwarf crayfish. I've been researching to try and determine if I should get more than one and how that will affect my bioload. I don't want to overload the tank by having multiple crays with some schooling fish too. Does anyone have any insight on this? I'm still cycling, so there's no huge rush. Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

Their bioload isn't huge, but they can be somewhat destructive and messy, making up any difference between them and comparably sized fish. Somewhat territorial, so provide caves at opposite ends of the aquarium. I figure 2 would be ok.

Thanks. That helps a lot. I'll consider them comparable to a fish of equal size when deciding on my population. The territorial nature was part of my concern too, but when decorating the tank, I had that already in mind. I have a cave on one side and a few fake log decorations with holes on the other.

If you go for the Mexican dwarf cray (cpo) you'll find them a lot more placid in a community tank even with shrimp, as with all these crustaceans squabbles do break out and sometimes a limb is lost which grows back and these don't destroy the tank

Cool. Thanks. That gives me something else to consider. I had been looking at Brazos and Cajun for my tank, but I'll look more into the CPO.
