Just a tip: make sure you have a cave you can remove for the gudgeon fry. Dad has a tendency to eat the eggs halfway through, so what i did was remove the cave from the tank after about 5 days or so and ran an airstone in the cave to simulate the fanning of the eggs. Had a pretty high hatch rate so far.

That is an excellent suggestion. I do have a cave in there that I can remove without issues but there are a few other natural caves amongst the hardscape that they seem to like better. If they pick a reasonable spot then I will for sure try this :D if not I will let nature take its course and rearrange my tank

Spawned a pair of pencils in the blackwater side and removed them after an appropriate amount of time. I'm working for the next 4 days but if they laid any eggs there should be fry in about 1 week. A lesson I learned from last time is that the eggs are too small to see, its the behavior that you need to watch out for with these guys. Will post results
