Dropsy Or Constipation?

while doing a weekly water change I noticed my female betta, calypso, was slightly pine coning. I immediately gave her an epsom salt bath. in hopes it might be constipation I also fed her a pea. she pooped shortly after and now is very active and looks much less bloated. should I still treat her with furan 2? or do you think it was just constipation? shes currently in a quarantine tank with a ton of IAL and a small heater and I'm monitoring her closely.

The most common underlying cause of dropsy is an internal bacterial infection. Kanaplex is the most effective medication for it, as it's easily absorbed internally through the skin and gills. Epsom salt baths can temporarily relieve fluid retention. It's recommended that you don't feed her until her infection is treated.
