Yes, they catch stuff with their little filter/fan hands... I have learned my lesson and I do through research before buying new fish/inverts

I generally spot fed mine with a turkey baster to ensure they got enough.
Before I did that, they got kind of skinny.

Ok. Thanks for that info, o will definitely watch them to make sure they are getting enough food. Every time I look at them I notice them putting stuff in their mouth every 2-3 seconds

That's just them checking to see if they've caught anything. They'll still do it if there isn't anything there.
If your water isn't actually murky, in my experience there's not enough stuff for them to filter out.

Do you have a planted tank?

How often did you spot feed your bamboo shrimps? Daily? Every couple days? Once a week?

Daily. You can give them pretty much anything you could feed to fry, if I remember properly, or anything that you could feed to daphnia. Its been a while since I had mine, so I don't remember what I fed them. I just remember I nearly starved them to death, that I had guppies and mollies as well, that my tank was heavily planted, and that I used a turkey baster every day to feed them. I think I might have ground up regular fish food and mixed it with water, but that's probably not ideal.
