I recently had my eheim pro 3 filter leak out the back where the power cord comes in. Luckily I caught it quick while it was still a small leak. However I wasn't able to fix it after several attempts as fast as replacing seals, taking apart and clean pump head. Probably have to get a new pump head for it but haven't bother since I'm now not trusting that filter these days. I've since replaced with a fluval 405 and fx4 however I'm constantly worried one will fail at something draining my 125 gallon onto my living room floor. I recently read about people drilling a hole in the filters intake valve below water surface so if a leak occurs once it dips below the drilled hole it will take on air instead of water preventing further leaking. Just wondering if anyone has done this and their results. Any ideas on the issues would be greatly appreciated just wondering if I should do it.
